# Supporting and encouraging students seeking careers in vocational trade fields

TCI Scholarship Program

We are excited to announce the launch of the 2023-24 Kenneth Bice Vocational Scholarship Program, an initiative by TCI, a leading technology service company specializing in Telecommunications, Security Systems, and IT services. Our goal is to support and inspire high school seniors who have a passion for vocational trade fields, as we recognize the shortage of students entering these industries and the limited availability of scholarships in these areas. In line with this vision, we are pleased to offer two cash scholarships, each valued at $1000, to deserving students in May 2024.

The Kenneth Bice Vocational Scholarship is named in honor of TCI's founder, Kenneth Bice. It is designed to empower and provide financial assistance to students pursuing a post-secondary degree or certification in a vocational trade field. We firmly believe in the importance of vocational education and the significant contributions these trades make to our society.

As part of our commitment to recognizing and celebrating excellence, we will be selecting a TCI Student of the Month from senior students enrolled in local high school vocational trade programs. Every month, a student who meets the following qualifications will be chosen for this recognition:

1. Enrollment in a vocational trade program in Calhoun County or Etowah County.

2. Demonstration of eagerness to learn, honesty, integrity, and leadership qualities among their peers in their chosen field.

3. Is a senior planning to pursue a post-secondary or certification in one of the following trades:

  • Automotive Technology
  • Building Construction
  • Business Information Technology
  • Collision Repair
  • Cosmetology
  • Culinary Arts
  • Electrical Education
  • Fire Management Services
  • Graphic Arts
  • Health Sciences
  • Precision Machining
  • Welding
  • Other related vocational trade fields

The selected student will receive an award of recognition, along with a Visa gift card honorarium, during the month of their selection. Additionally, their names and photos will be featured on the TCI webpage and our social media pages. Each chosen student will also be required to answer a short questionnaire/essay and agree to a media release.

At the end of the academic year, two outstanding students, one from Calhoun County and one from Etowah County, will be selected from among the monthly awardees to receive the Kenneth Bice Vocational Scholarship.

We are excited about the opportunity to support and encourage the next generation of skilled professionals in vocational trades. By offering these scholarships and recognizing exemplary students, we hope to inspire more young individuals to pursue their passions in these vital fields.
